Our History
NDCCCS is an evangelical protestant church, which might be similar to any Baptist, Anglican, Presbyterian churches you may have visited. Every protestant church will be different in various ways, which reflects their heritage and the people who attend, and the same is true for us. Regardless, on those critical gospel matters, we stand united with the church universal - proclaiming salvation in Jesus alone, whom we know through the Scriptures alone.
We are a Christian Church who have been meeting in Sydney's north since 1986 and we're now in our fourth decade of being a church in our own right. Originally established as a Cantonese-speaking church plant of CCC (Milson's Point), very soon we began an English-speaking ministry, which includes our children's and youth ministry, as well as our main English service. Today, we meet in three languages, across four Sunday congregations, in two locations. We have two Cantonese-speaking services; one which meets in our church building in North Epping and another at Epping Boys High School in Marsfield, where all our other Sunday services also take place. In 2019, we started a fourth service to serve the Mandarin-speaking people in and around our local area, including Macquarie University.
A couple of times a year we come together as one whole church, in particular for our Anniversary Service (in May) and our Thanksgiving Service (in November), in a church gathering which takes place in multiple languages with many people and a lot of food!
Since our humble beginning of a few families meeting together, by God's grace, we have grown into a church with people from all ages and backgrounds. Our hope is to continue to preach the gospel of Jesus, nurture the faith of believers and develop godly leaders through studying the Bible together, prayer, corporate worship, fellowship, sharing the good news of Jesus and living out our faith. We hope you might visit us some time!
Our Vision
To know Christ and to make Him known
At ND, our vision is about knowing Jesus in fullness and in truth. Jesus is the only one who truly shows us the Father. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. And so knowing him is key for who we are and what we do. It is also what we most want for those around us - to know Christ that they might be saved.
Our Mission
By being disciples, growing disciples and making disciples.
At ND, our mission is threefold: it is looking up, looking around, and looking out. We want to grow as disciples of Jesus, that our life might conform to his life, and we might live lives of grace because of the grace shown to us. We want to grow each other as disciples, as iron sharpens iron, encouraging each other in our walk with Jesus. We want to grow new disciples of Jesus, to help people who have not yet met Jesus to meet him, to discover who he is, and why he is the answer to their deepest needs.
Our Beliefs
The Church holds the Bible (39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament) as the divinely inspired and entirely trustworthy Word of God.
The Bible is also the ultimate authority on matters relating to Christian conduct and the Church's belief and order.
We believe that:
There is only one God who is the Creator and Preserver of all things
The unity of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit in the Godhead
Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit; was born of the virgin Mary; was raised bodily from the dead; ascended into Heaven; and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father
All mankind is sinful and of corrupt nature since the Fall, rendering man subject to God's wrath and condemnation
Forgiveness of sins comes through Christ and Him alone. Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin is only through the vicarious death of Jesus Christ
It is through the work of the Holy Spirit that the death of Christ is made effective to the individual sinner, granting him repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ.
The one holy universal Church consists of all true believers who have experienced redemption through Jesus Christ
The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ, to establish God's ultimate rule
