• "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). Pray that we would not be deceived into pursuing a life that falls short of what is offered to us be Jesus.

• Thank God for the period of relative harmony we've enjoyed as Australians over the last two months. There have been fewer reports of hate speech, and little controversy over political decisions.

• Thank God that North and South Korea were able to engage in peace talks for the first time in two years. Pray for a positive outcome for the North Korean people and for the easing of tensions in the region.

• “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”” (Rom 10.14–15)

• Continue to pray for our country as the survey on marriage goes out to all Australians. Pray for civility and genuine understanding from both sides.

• Pray for those places in the world with horrendous disasters. Pray for the USA with their flooding, pray for India and Bangladesh with their flooding, pray for the many Rohingya homeless and unwanted in either Myanmar or Bangladesh. Pray for those who have lost all their security in this world, that they may find that in Christ.

• Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20.21) May we be willing to respond to the great commission.

• Give thanks for the many missionaries we are able to support as a church. May we be motivated to also support them personally and to uphold them in prayer.

• Pray for our country as the debate surrounding redefining marriage continues. Pray for respectful conversations from both sides, and pray that Christians would not be afraid to speak the truth in love.

• Give thanks that the question of Australia's treatment of refugees has come into the spotlight again. Do pray that those who have fled to Australia would be protected and given hope for the future.

• Pray for Peter and Kat in Malaysia - Pray for energy and good preparation as Kat organises a preaching workshop on Romans while Peter juggles weekday teaching on the Old Testament at the Malaysia Theological Seminary, and weekend preaching throughout September
